JeffGundyJeff Gundy has published eight books of poems including Without a Plea, Abandoned Homeland, and Somewhere Near Defiance, for which he was named Ohio Poet of the Year. His latest prose book is Wind Farm: Landscape with Stories and Towers. Former Fulbright lecturer at U. of Salzburg, he’s now Writer in (Non)residence at Bluffton University.

ColleenAllesColleen Alles is a native Michigander and award-winning writer living in Grand Rapids. The author of two novels and a poetry collection, she’s also a contributing editor with Great Lakes Review and Barren Magazine. She enjoys distance running and corralling her kiddos. PJWesleyPatricia Jabbeh Wesley is the author of seven critically acclaimed books including Praise Song for My Children: New and Selected Poems. She has edited Breaking the Silence, the first comprehensive anthology of Liberian poetry, published this year. Originally from Liberia, she is Professor of English and Creative Writing at Penn State U.

JohnHoppenthalerJohn Hoppenthaler has had four books of poetry published by Carnegie Mellon U. Press, including Night Wing Over Metropolitan Area—due out this October. Professor of Creative Writing and Literature at East Carolina University, he also serves on the Advisory Board for Backbone Press, specializing in publication and promotion of marginalized voices.

JudithMcCombsJudith McCombs grew up nomadic in a geodetic surveyor’s family. Her poems appear in Poetry, Shenandoah, Nimrod, and in five books including The Habit of Fire: Poems Selected & New. She has taught at Wayne State U. and in the Washington, D.C. area. She received awards from Michigan and Maryland State Arts Councils

MollySpencerMolly Spencer has recent poems published in Blackbird, Los Angeles Review, and Prairie Schooner. She is the author of the poetry collections If the House, winner of the Brittingham Prize, and Hinge, winner of the Crab Orchard Open Competition. She teaches writing at the University of Michigan.

RonKoertgeRon Koertge began publishing poetry in the 1960’s and has published more than twenty books of poetry. His poems continue to appear in independent poetry journals. His recent books include Yellow Moving Van (University of Pittsburgh Press, 2018), Olympusville (Red Hen Press, 2018), and Vampire Planet (Red Hen Press, 2016).

In 2018 a film based on Ron’s prose poem “Negative Space,” created by Ru Kuwahata and Max Porter, was nominated for an Academy Award in the category Best Animated Short Film.

Ron was a faculty member for more than 35 years at Pasadena City College. He also taught in the MFA Writing for Children & Young Adults program at Hamline University in St. Paul, Minnesota.

Ron is the author of many celebrated novels for young adults, including Coaltown Jesus, Stoner & Spaz, and Shakespeare Bats Cleanup.

Ron and his wife live in Pasadena, California, in a house featured in Halloween, one of the most iconic horror films of all time.

MichaelZadoorianMichael Zadoorian has four published novels, The Narcissism of Small Differences, Beautiful Music, The Leisure Seeker and Second Hand, and a story collection, The Lost Tiki Palaces of Detroit. His fiction has appeared in NAR, Literary Review, and Witness. The Leisure Seeker was made into a film starring Helen Mirren and Donald Sutherland.

LarryThomasLaurence W. Thomas, who has taught English on four continents, writes poetry covering the gamut from childhood games through love, mutability, and mortality. Founding editor of Third Wednesday, he has published many books. He’ll read from his latest: The Cottage, A Little of This, and Spindrift: New and Selected Poems.


EdWersteinEd Werstein received the Lorine Niedecker Prize from the Council for Wisconsin Writers and is regional VP of the Wisconsin Fellowship of Poets. His poems have appeared in Rosebud, Blue Collar Review, Stoneboat, and several anthologies. His books of poetry include A Tar Pit to Dye In and Communiqué: Poems From the Headlines.

MaryMinockMary Minock’s new poetry collection, A Time When You Know a House, explores the Southwest Detroit neighborhood where she grew up during the 1950s and 1960s and returned to in 1996. She is the author of The Way-Back Room (memoir) and Love in the Upstairs Flat (poems), and Professor Emerita and former Chair of English at Madonna University.
